Though times have changed, until very recently certain tasks and skills were considered unimportant for the simple fact that they were relegated to and performed by women. Though "women's work" included creating essential items such as clothing and coverings for warmth, and despite the fact that these items were often beautiful as well as practical, the ability to make them was trivialized. The title of this portal has an attitude; it reflects a newfound self-respect.
